But We Have the Mind of Christ

"For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him?  But we have the mind of Christ."
1 Corinthians 2:16

What a powerful statement Paul made here, we have the mind of Christ.  We can trust that God will instruct us when we receive him as our Lord and Savior.  He has given us power, dunamis power, which is the supernatural power through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.  We now have God with us.

God has equipped us with what we have need of.  Sometimes it is a process to fully comprehend the covenant that we have with God.  This understanding and wisdom comes through a personal relationship with Christ and through faith in him. "Without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6)."  We cannot expect to receive anything from God if we do not believe by faith in what he has done.  He clearly tells us in Hebrews that "he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him (Hebrews 11:6)."  He also tells us to pray for power, the gifts of the Spirit and for wisdom.  He knows what we have need of, but he wants you to ask so that your prayers may be heard and you know that he has heard them by answering your prayers.

When I saw the verse that we have the mind of Christ, my expectation and faith began to change.  I realized that God would give me the wisdom and the instruction I needed because he has equipped me with the mind of Christ.  He was the one who would become my teacher. He tells us that is part of the new covenant is "I will put my laws in their mind and write them on their hears.  I will be there God and they will be my people. No longer will a man teach his neighbor or a man his brother, saying, know the Lord, because they will all know me, from the least to the greatest.  For I will forgive their wickedness and remember their sins no more (Hebrews 8:10-12)."  That is why he gave us the promise of the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit would come and abide in us affirming God's law and promises.  He would be the one to lead us, guide us, instruct us and give us wisdom.  God gave us part of himself.

We are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:37).  He gives us the ability to do it.  He will show the path if we seek him, depend on him and trust in him.  He is the one who can instruct us for we have the mind of Christ.  So be expecting to hear what he is saying and follow his lead.
