I am married to a wonderful husband and have three beautiful children. Jesus is my Lord and Savior. I believe the Bible is the inspired word of God. I also believe that Jesus died for my sins, rose from the dead and now sits at the right hand of the Father. The Bible is the best book we can read because it provides us with instructions and words of life. I am thankful that God brought me to repentance and gave me hope for eternal life. I am truly blessed.
Although I accepted Jesus into my heart as a child, I did not fully understand the fullness of this great salvation. I experienced religion rather than having a personal relationship with God. Growing up our parents did not go to church, however, my parents would send me and my sisters to church. I remember attending weekly a small children's bible study at a Baptist church with Joe and my sisters. He would give us bible verses to remember. Over the years growing up we would occasionally attend churches. We attended many different churches from Baptist, to Foursquare, to Non-Denominational. Although they were informative, I did not encounter the living God.
When I was in my twenties, the Lord began to call me back to him. I had a dream in 1987 that the Lord would return in my lifetime. I knew I wasn't ready. As I began to to seek him, I kept ending up in churches that were very legalistic. I kept experiencing those who wanted to make me feel guilty and condemned rather than experiencing God's love, grace and mercy. Please don't get me wrong, God hates sin and wants us to repent, but God convicts us in a loving and kind way. It is his goodness that leads us to repentance. Each time I kept trying to go back to church I would encountered "a group of Christians" who really turned me off to God. I had one group take me out to lunch and go through a sin list to confess and repent of my sin to them. There was no grace or mercy, but just guilt and condemnation. After that, I stayed away from the churches for another 12 years.
As life went on, I married and began to have children. Life began to happen and the responsibilities and stresses of life took over. Before long, my husband and I were becoming very disconnected and began to have marital problems. These problems escalated to where we could have ended up in divorce. However, God had a plan for not only for me but also for my husband and children. This was the first time both my husband and I were touched by God personally. We were at rock bottom and knew that without God we would not survive. God spoke to both of us personally and intimately through the Holy Spirit and through the word of God. He asked me to stay with my husband and to trust in him. We already had two wonderful children. We had both a girl and a boy, the perfect pair. God tells us that children are a blessing from God. During this hard time in our life, he gave both my husband and I a word of knowledge personally. He told us we would have a third child and he was to be named Matthew (a gift from God) and to give him the middle name Timothy (fear of God). Within a month, I was pregnant with Matthew. Matthew was born on my birthday. It was God's gift and promise to restore what the enemy had taken from our family. He gave us hope again.
Although the road to restoration and healing has not always been easy, God has prevailed in bringing wholeness to me, my husband and my family. He has blessed us with our three godly children and has transformed both my life and the life of my husband. Tom demonstrates Christ daily and is an example of a loving husband and father. I can see God's work in him and how he changed him from the inside out. It is more than I could have ever expected. God had given us power to overcome by his Holy Spirit when we submitted our lives to him. He has given us a love for others and his word. I know that daily we could not survive without putting our hope in him first. I am thankful that He was ever so patient with us in our walk with him. He still loves us despite our failures and is always teaching us his ways.
He has also shown both of us his great power and that he is still alive today. Both my husband and I have seen the power of God by what he said in Mark 16:18....and these signs shall follow those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues...they will place their hands on the sick people and they will recover." We have also seen his manifest gifts of the spirit which include: the word of wisdom, the word of knowledge, faith, gifts of healing, miraculous powers, prophecy, distinguishing between spirits, speaking in tongues and interpretation of tongues. Among that we have experienced the seven gifts of grace which include: prophesying, serving, teaching, encouraging, generosity, leadership and showing mercy. We accept the five fold office of: apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachings to prepare God's people for the works of service. We are thankful for his perfect plan of salvation through Jesus Christ his son. Because of what God did for us, we daily look for opportunities to share with others the love of God and the gospel of Jesus Christ. We hope that our blog will minister Christ and life to you and your family.
